REPORT NARRATIVE:
In December 2015, Fire Department staff applied for grant funding under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. The goal of the AFG is to provide essential equipment for firefighting operations. The primary purpose of application was to improve the delivery of emergency medical services through the acquisition of automatic chest compression devices suitable for advanced life support field application.

In May 2016, Fire Department staff was notified of a grant award under this program. Under this grant, the Fire Department will purchase five automatic chest compression devices suitable for advanced life support field application. The grant award requires a 10% match which will be borne by the City.

Upon formal acceptance of the grant, Fire Department staff will initiate the solicitation of bids for equipment. Once received, the devices will be placed in service on emergency response apparatus.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Inform
Since this grant provides funds to purchase equipment to improve the delivery of emergency medical services delivered by firefighters, no community engagement has been conducted. This staff report will serve as the instrument to inform the community of the grant award to the Morgan Hill Fire Department and the corresponding equipment purchase.
