REPORT NARRATIVE:

Every year the Leadership Morgan Hill Class chooses a hands-on community project that they work on throughout the program. For this year’s project, the class chose to enhance the experience of residents and out-of-town guests during music events with a state-of-the-art stage lighting system for the Downtown Amphitheater at the Community and Cultural Center. The title of this project was named “Bright Idea.”

The Leadership Morgan Hill Class held multiple fundraising events and promotional activities and raised funds to design, build, and install the new lighting system.

The new lighting system was installed on Wednesday, July 15 and consists of 12 LED lights that are located on the two poles on the grass area (six on each pole). In addition, 12 lights were also installed on the stage for down lighting and backlighting. Morgan Hill Leadership also purchased a programmable light board that can be used to control the new lighting system to enhance the concert environment.

The lights were revealed to the public on July 17th at the Chamber of Commerce Friday Night Music Series.  A plaque recognizing the donation by Leadership Morgan Hill will be placed at the Downtown Amphitheater.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:                     Collaborate

This project was a collaborative process by which the Leadership class, the Chamber of Commerce (who hosts the Downtown Amphitheater Summer Concert Series), and City staff worked together to develop the project concept.  Leadership Morgan Hill made the final decision in selecting this specific project and helped manage the installation with City staff.
