Library News
The library will be closed on Friday, October 14th for a system-wide staff development day for all library
staff.
The Commissioners’ Corner will be up November through December. This display will feature books, movies, audiobooks and music recommendations from the library commissioners.

September Highlights
On September 14th, Dr. Francisco Jimenez presented to a packed audience as part of the series of Friends of the Library Speaker Forums. Dr. Jimenez is the author of four award-winning books featuring his personal stories from working in the fields as a migrant child to obtaining his M.A. at Columbia University.
Another round of Beginning Bridge Classes began and immediately filled up. The series of 10 classes is offered every Monday.
With school back in session, the children’s staff has been visiting schools to share books and promote library resources, as well as hosting numerous class visits within the library.

Come to our costume swap to find something frightfully new to wear for Halloween this year!
Tuesday, October 4th, 6:30-8:30pm: Teen Paint Night
Come paint a scene at our paint night event just for teens. All supplies will be provided. Spots are limited and registration is required.
Monday, October 3rd, 7-8:30pm: Cookbook Book Club
Try some new cookbooks, taste new recipes and make some new friends at our Cookbook Book Club! October theme: Paleo.
Wednesday, October 5th & 12th, 7-8:30 pm: Basics of Photography
Learn basic photography skills in this four part series with experienced photographer Jack Yovanov.
Saturday, October 8th, 2-3pm: Pinterest Craft Club
Want to finally make some of those crafts you see on Pinterest? Join us one Saturday a month for crafting fun! All supplies are free and provided while they last. This month’s craft: Perler Beads.
Wednesday, October 19th, 7-8:30pm: Steinbeck in California
A talk by Dr. Susan Shillinglaw, one of the world's leading experts on John Steinbeck's life and work.
Saturday, October 22nd, 3-4pm: Sing, Play, Learn
Kathy Reid-Naiman, winner of a Parents' Choice Award in 2011 and 2012, as well as a Gold Parents' Choice Award, will perform a concert for young children and their caregivers.
Tuesday, October 25th, 7:00-8:30 pm: Women in Philanthropy
Part of the AAUW’s Speaker series, presenting interesting speakers on a variety of topics. This month’s program brought to you by the Morgan Hill branch of the American Association of University Women, AWASA International School, Community Solutions, KIVA, Learning and Loving Education Center, Operation Freedom Paws and the Morgan Hill Library.

Tuesday, October 25th, 7:30-8:45 pm: Books with Dessert Book Club
A good book, good company and some tasty treats. Bring a dessert to share and join us as we discuss the The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson.
Saturday, October 29th, 3:00-4:30pm: Halloweenfest
Pumpkin walk, creepy crafts, gooey snacks, carnival games and lots of fun!
Outreach
The library staff tabled at local back-to-school nights, offering library cards and information about library resources for students such as Brainfuse, databases, and graded booklists.
