RECOMMENDATION(S):
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution approving the following actions:
1. Approve project plans and specifications;
2. Award a contract to Alaniz Construction, Inc. for the 2014-2015 Parking Lot Seal Coat Project-Phase 2 in the amount of $56,336.64;
3. Authorize the expenditure of construction contingency funds not to exceed $5,633; and
4. Authorize the City Manager to execute and administer that certain construction contract with Alaniz Construction, Inc.

REPORT NARRATIVE:
This is the second phase of the 2014-2015 Parking Lot Seal Coat project. The first phase was completed last November and included the three parking lots at Galvan Park/Friendly Inn, Nordstrom Park and the El Toro Youth Center.

The scope of work for this second phase of the 2014-2015 Parking Lot Seal Coat project included repairing, sealing and restriping six city-owned parking lots. The parking lots are located at the Community and Cultural Center, the City Corporation Yard, Paradise Park, the Farmers Market/Transit Center, and the Downtown Parking Lots located between W 1st Street and W 2nd Street and between E 2nd and E 3rd Streets.

In soliciting bids for this project, the City advertised in the Morgan Hill Times newspaper, two online services, Online Plan and Public Purchase, and sent bid packages to eight Builders Exchanges in Northern California.

The bid opening was held on May 18, 2015 and eight bids were received:
