REPORT NARRATIVE:
Morgan Hill Community Garden has occupied the City's former bicycle motocross park on Butterfield Blvd. for several years. With largely donated supplies and volunteer labor, the group has transformed the abandoned park into a center of productivity, engagement, and beauty. The Garden has a waiting list of interested gardeners and has identified the area directly to the south, between the existing fence and the Courthouse driveway, as an appropriate expansion area. With grant funding from Sakata Seed, the Garden proposes to move the existing fence to encompass this area and to build new garden beds to serve some of the gardeners on the waiting list.

The attached First Amendment to Revocable License has been drafted to slightly expand the area covered by the License to include this new area. The sole purpose of this report is to obtain the Council's approval of the attached Amendment and to authorize the City Manager to execute the Amendment.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Empower
Garden members brought this idea to the City's attention and will be responsible for all aspects of project implementation.

ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS:
The City Council could choose not to approve the Garden expansion and the Garden could continue to operate within its current area.

PRIOR CITY COUNCIL AND COMMISSION ACTIONS:
The City Council has approved the License Agreement several times since 2010. The most recent action was on April 1, 2015.
