REPORT NARRATIVE:
The Police Department participates annually with other local law enforcement agencies in the Avoid the 13 DUI (Driving under the Influence) Campaign. The goal of this campaign is to reduce the number of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol incidents as well as the number of victims killed or injured in drug-impaired or alcohol-impaired crashes within Santa Clara County.

This year the Avoid the 13 DUI Campaign runs from October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016 and Morgan Hill has been awarded $16,900. This grant-based program is funded through the California Office of Traffic Safety and administered by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. The attached Memorandum of Understanding identifies the requirements for reimbursement of DUI enforcement activities.

This program is aligned with City Council priorities of Enhancing Public Safety and Participating in Regional Issues. With our Department's participation in this countywide campaign, we show support for zero tolerance for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol by increasing our directed enforcement activities.
