Library News

Angela Macchia was honored for her work as a library volunteer at the annual Morgan Hill Community Foundation Philanthropy Event.  Angela has been a dedicated volunteer for over 6 years, volunteering on a weekly basis to pull items from the shelves to fill requests for library users across the Santa Clara County system.

 

 

 

 

The Commissioners’ Corner display featuring books, movies, audiobooks and music recommendations from the library commissioners will continue to be up through December.

 

 

November Highlights

 

Python Programming & Minecraft

Volunteers from Aquacoders presented two programs teaching 3rd-8th graders how to us Python programming to interact with Minecraft.  The classes were so well received the library will be offering monthly programs starting next year.

 

Women and Culinary Arts with Cynthia Sandberg from Love Apple Farm

The November AAUW program, part of their monthly speaker series, featured Cynthia Sandberg from Love Apple Farm and brought in over 50 attendees.

 

 

Upcoming December Events

 

Mondays in December, 4-5pm:  Lego Club

Come check out our LEGOS and build whatever you want! We will have LEGOS available for ages 2 and up and will be displaying the creations in the library until the next meeting.

 

Thursdays in December, 4-5:30pm:  Conversation Club

Come to the library and improve your English listening and speaking skills. Learn about other cultures in a fun, respectful and supportive environment. This club will work to improve listening and speaking skills for all levels of English language learners. Topics will include American culture, life skills, and current events.

 

Saturday, December 3rd, 2-4pm:  Holiday Crafts

You're invited to a fun day of holiday crafting! Craft supplies are free and provided while they last. Crafts will be available for adults and teens and for children. Families are invited to craft together!

 

Tuesday, Deceb 6th, 4-5pm:  Hour of Code

Grades 3-6 join in on the fun! Use blocks of code to complete a fun challenge. Learn coding basics in just one hour.

 

Wednesday, December 7th & 14th, 7-8:30 pm: Intermediate Photography

Learn intermediate photography skills in this four part series with experienced photographer Jack Yovanov.

 

Saturday, December 10th, 3pm: Teen Movie
Come check out a new release movie at the library! These movies are geared for teens. Many are rated PG-13 and appropriate for teens ages 13 and up, parental guidance is suggested for ages under 13. This month’s movie:  X-Men: Apocalypse.

 

Monday, December 12th,  7-8:30pm: Cookbook Book Club
Try some new cookbooks, taste new recipes and make some new friends at our Cookbook Book Club! November theme: Holiday Cookies.

 

Tuesday, December 13th 4-5pm:  Cookie Decorating for Teens & Tweens

Come decorate a tasty cookie after school!  This program is for ages 10 and up and all supplies will be provided until they last!

 

Tuesday, December 13th 6:30pm:  South Valley String Quartet

Grab some light refreshment, sit back and enjoy festive holiday music, including selections from the Nutcracker Suite. All are welcome to this FREE program!  Sponsored by the Friends of the Morgan Hill Library.

 

Thursday, December 22nd, 10:30am & Saturday, December 24th, 10:15am:  Holiday Puppet Show
