ACCEPTANCE OF MONTEREY ROAD STREETSCAPE PROJECT

RECOMMENDATION(S)
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt resolution approving the following actions:
1. Accepting as complete the Monterey Road Streetscape Project in the final amount of $2,089,730.40;
2. Authorize the Public Works Director to sign the attached Notice of Completion; and
3. Direct the City Clerk to file said Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office.

REPORT NARRATIVE:
On May 21, 2014, City Council approved the Downtown Placemaking Investment Strategy for expenditure of RDA Bond proceeds. This included the downtown Monterey Road Streetscape project.

The Monterey Road Streetscape Improvement Project spans between Main Avenue and Dunne Avenue. The scope of work includes: irrigation upgrades, electrical upgrades, gathering space upgrades, landscaping, park benches, lighting enhancements and pedestrian safety enhancements.

A bid opening was held on June 11, 2015. Two bids were received, Stockbridge General Contracting for $2,151,523.85 and Golden Bay Construction for $2,834,705. On June 17, 2015, the City Council awarded the contract for the Monterey Road Streetscape Project to Stockbridge General Contracting in the amount of $2,151,523.85. The City Council also approved a contingency of $322,728.58 for a total authorized project amount of $2,474,252.43. The project commenced on July 2, 2015 and the project was substantially completed on June 14, 2016.
